Official State Mineral of Rhode Island

Rhode Island designated bowenite as the official state mineral in 1966. Bowenite is closely related to jade and can be considered a semi-precious gemstone.

Bowenite is found in northern Rhode Island, first discovered by geologist George Bowen in the early 1800's. All State Minerals - All State Gemstones
