Official State Gem of Georgia

Georgia designated quartz as the official state gem symbol in 1976 (Georgia also recognizes an official state mineral). All State Gems

Quartz is common in Georgia and can be found in a wide variety of colors. The state legislation cited two particular forms of quartz - amethyst (used mostly in jewelry), and clear quartz (which resembles a diamond when faceted).
