Pan de Campo

Texas designated pan de campo (cowboy bread) as the official state bread in 2005. Texas has also recognized the dutch oven as the state cooking implement , the chuck wagon as the state vehicle, and several other food symbols (jalapeño and chiltepin peppers, strudel and sopaipilla pastries, state health nut and snack, vegetable, and even the state plant has edible parts in southwest cooking (prickly pear cactus) .
