South Carolina State Tree - Sabal Palmetto

South Carolina designated the sabal palmetto (Inodes Palmetto) as the official state tree in 1939. Sabal palmetto (also called cabbage palmetto) is a familiar symbol of South Carolina, featured on the state flag, great seal, and state quarter: South Carolina became the state in 1788 (see statehood order) - the state quarter also features an outline of South Carolina, the state bird, state tree, state flower, and the state nickname: "The Palmetto State - public domain image on Wikipedia - see all 50 state quarters
