Karner Blue Butterfly

The Karner Blue (Lycaeides melissa, subspecies samuelis) was designated as the official state butterfly of New Hampshire in 1992.
Also called the melissa blue, the karner blue butterfly is found in small isolated colonies in New Hampshire and elsewhere (NatureServe Conservation status: imperiled).
