Hawaii's State Language:

Native Hawaiian was recognized as the official state language of Hawaii in 1978 (the state song is in Hawaiian). The legal language states:
"The Hawaiian language is the native language of Hawaii and may be used on all emblems and symbols representative of the State, its departments, agencies and political subdivisions."

Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959 (see statehood order) -
Hawaii's state quarter features a statue of Kamehameha I
(conquered the Hawaiian Islands and formally established the Kingdom
of Hawaii in 1810), an outline of the state, and the state motto in
the state language (Hawaiian): "Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Āina i ka Pono" -
