"Slosheye Trail Big Pig Jig"

Georgia designated The Slosheye Trail Big Pig Jig in Vienna as the official state pork barbeque championship cook-off in 1997. Sponsored by the Dooly county Chamber of Commerce, this competition becomes bigger every year and is one of the most highly anticipated festivals in the state of Georgia.

In addition to the pork barbeque championship cookoff, there is a stew and sauce contest, a parade, arts and crafts booths, a costume contest, musical performances, livestock shows, hog calling contest, special children's activities, and more.

"Shoot the Bull Barbeque Cookoff"

Geogia also adopted the Shoot the Bull Barbeque Cookoff in Hawkinsville, Georgia as the state beef barbeque championship in 1997. Sponsored by the Hawkinsville Civitan Club, proceeds from the event go to the Civitan International Research Center for research toward a cure for Down’s Syndrome and other developmental disabilities.
